Weddings
Choosing the DJ is one of the most important decisions you'll have to make to ensure your perfect wedding day. For peace of mind you have to look no further. With more than 35 years' experience in the music and entertainment industry we will ensure the success of your big day.
Most weddings are not only about speeches and dancing at the reception, very often you need microphones and music at the ceremony and maybe music at the pre-drinks area. We have all the necessary equipment to set up at all the required areas at the venue, before the guests arrive. The last thing you want is the DJ getting in the way of your guests, while carrying around speakers.
When it comes to dancing we would normally play a mix of all the popular songs ranging from the 50's to the latest top 40 hits. We will play music that people know and love and we try to cater for everyone. We're always willing to take requests and will play them as long as we think they are appropriate - we don't want to end up with only one person dancing to his or her favourite song no one else has even heard of.

How can we assist?
The ceremony
For the ceremony we can provide a sound system for playing music, e.g., while the bride walks down the aisle or when the newlywed couple leaves the ceremony. Usually we will use a headset microphone for the minister or pastor. By using u headset microphone, he or she can move around freely and the volume level will not fluctuate. A lavalier microphone can be hidden on the groom, either behind his tie or under his collar. By placing a microphone on the groom, the guests would be able to hear the bride and groom while they are facing each other and exchanging the wedding vows. Handheld microphones can be used for any additional announcements, speeches or performances.
Pre-drinks
For the pre(reception)-drinks, we usually make use of a laptop and speakers for background music. If you require anything else we can discuss it prior to the wedding.
The reception
The sound system for the reception will be determined by the venue size and the number of guests. Our standard wedding sound system easily covers up to 300 guests indoor or 200 guests outdoor. If a larger sound system is required, we can discuss it prior to the wedding.
Videos and/or photo slideshows and/or presentations
Videos, music videos, photo slideshows and presentations etc. can be projected onto walls, projection screens, drapes etc. For a totally different vibe, we can play music videos instead of music only. The videos will be projected onto projection screens and will enhance the overall experience as well as entertain all the non-dancing guests. Reverse projection screens are used and usually placed in the corners or the venue if the layout permits. By using reverse projection, the projectors are placed behind the screens and completely out of the way.
Dancefloor lighting, haze & fog
The dancefloor lighting can be any combination of the available lighting which include full-coulour lasers, scanners, wash lights, moving heads, blacklights or UV lights, strobes as well as a mirror ball. We usually combine that with a high-output hazer. A hazer is similar to a fog machine, but will produce an unobtrusive fine mist effect to make light beams more visible. Alternatively two high-output fog machines can be used to create thick clouds of smoke. The lighting is synchronised to the music, and controlled from the DJ's laptop.
Up-lighting or mood-lighting
Wash lights can be placed, e.g., at floor level in front of pillars or to illuminate drapes or flower arrangements etc. Used for colour washes, up-lights or focal lights, they add colour, mood, and/or focus to specific areas or objects.
Gobos
Images and/or text, e.g. the names or initials of the bride & groom can be projected onto walls, screens, drapes, the dancefloor etc. The images and/or text will be projected in colour and in high definition. Two images can be projected from two projectors onto two separate areas or objects simultaneously.
Display Panel
A 40 inch high definition LCD display panel on a tripod stand can be used to display directions, photo slideshows, presentations, seating arrangements etc.
Speaker / lighting stand skirts
For a professional look, we have black and white Spandex stretch covers which are used for covering speaker and lighting stands / tripods. The white covers can be illuminated from the inside to match the colour of the decor or any other colour as required.

First Dance
The timing of this song is very important - try to ensure that all the formalities have been done. This includes dinner, speeches, throwing of the garter, cutting of the cake and dessert. If you open the dance floor before the dessert is served, most of the guests will go back to their tables to enjoy the dessert and then the flow of the evening would be broken.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you provide the music and a microphone for the ceremony in the garden, chapel or church and what about music at the pre-drinks area?
Yes, we can, but only if the ceremony and pre-drinks area are on the same premises as the reception. The reason for that is because we cannot travel between different venues to set up and take down equipment. If everything is on the same premises it is usually not a problem.
We want our guests to enjoy the dance floor. What can influence the dance?
Try to ensure that all the formalities have been done prior to the first dance. This includes dinner, speeches, throwing of the garter, cutting of the cake and dessert. In doing so, dancing need not be interrupted for each of the aforementioned. The size of the dance floor, the layout of the venue and the amount of light on the dance floor also has an influence on the willingness of the guests to dance. Try not to have the dance floor in a separate room. Try to switch off or at least dim the lights above- and close to the dance floor once the dancing starts.
What style of music do you play?
We have a variety of music from the 50's to the latest top 40 hits. We will follow your guidance and play according to your wishes but at the same time music appropriate to the ages of the guests at the wedding. We usually play a mix of new and older songs and try not to play rap, blues and heavy rock. We play the music that people know and love and try to cater for everyone.
May we give you a long list of music we want you to play?
You may, but we discourage it. The bridal couple is usually very busy during the ceremony, mingling, chatting, posing for group photos etc. etc. and they often rarely get a chance to dance. If they choose the majority of the music, don't get to dance and the guests don't particularly like their selection, the chances are that you end up with an empty dancefloor as a result of a playlist which does not work.
May we give you a music list containing a few of our favourite songs as well as the ones we do not want you to play?
Yes, with pleasure.
We also have a band which will be playing a couple of songs; may they make use of your speakers?
We can try to assist, but we need to discuss this at least two weeks prior to the wedding, because a band's requirements are usually quite different from what we use for DJ'ing.
A friend of mine wants to sing a song at our wedding, will you allow her to make use of your audio equipment?
He or she is more than welcome to make use of any of the provided microphones, but we should discuss any other requirements at least two weeks prior to the wedding.
My mother is concerned about the volume level. What do I tell her?
We position the speakers facing in the direction of the dance floor and above ear-level of sitting guests. We will continuously monitor the volume level. When planning the table layout it is also a good idea to position the elderly further away from the dance area.
Do you disturb the groom with music or sound effects during his speech?
If it was specifically requested, we will. However, if the groom requested us not to play music or sound effects, we will honour his wishes and refrain from doing it.
Do you display any banner or other form of advertising during the wedding?
No, we do not. We do have business cards, to hand out, if required.
