What kind of equipment do you use?

This depends on the type and size of the function, the venue, and your requirements. We always use appropriate equipment and rather overcompensate; you can always turn down the volume or stop using some lighting effect rather than to add additional equipment half-way through the event. Depending on the number of guests, the size and layout of the area to be covered and the event type, we will use a sound system consisting of a combination of 8-inch, 10-inch, 12-inch, and 15-inch QSC and Yamaha active speakers and QSC KW181 18-inch active subwoofers with a combined power output of more than 25 000W RMS.

All the music (audio and video) is played using laptop computers. If music videos and/or slideshows or other on-screen entertainment are required, any combination of between one and four high-definition projectors will be used, of which two are Full HD laser projectors. If the ambient light is too bright to use projectors, or if you want to take your event to the next level, our high-resolution LED screens will be the ultimate solution, whether used indoors or outdoors, or even in direct sunlight. For the ultimate party with stunning laser shows, we use full-colour 2000 mW lasers. Blacklights for an unforgettable glow-in-the-dark party as well as various other lighting effects are available to choose from. Please visit our equipment page for more information.

Are you registered with SAMRO?

Yes, we are. Every DJ or anybody who publicly plays music at any function in South Africa must be registered with- and have a valid SAMRO license.

If you use projectors and screens e.g. for music videos, will the projectors not take up space on the dance floor?

We make use of rear-projection screens and projectors with short-throw lenses. The projection screens are usually set up in the corners of the venue or on stage, and the projectors are placed behind the projection screens, completely out of the way. The advantage of a short-throw lens is that the distance required between the projector and screen is drastically reduced compared to projectors using standard lenses.

How much time do you need for set-up?

This depends on the type of function or event, the equipment being used, and the access to where we have to do the set-up. We will rather ask for more time to ensure that we are ready before the first guests arrive.

Do you have backup equipment?

We have backups for all critical equipment should anything go wrong.

What happens in the event of a power failure?

We have battery backup systems that are capable of powering all of our equipment for a minimum of 4 hours. In the event of a power failure or load-shedding, the transition to backup power is seamless. Click here for more information about our load-shedding solutions. We are also able to connect our equipment to generator power if it is available, but the supplied generator must make use of automatic voltage regulation (AVR), have a rating of at least 10 KVA, and only our equipment must be connected to it at any given time. If a generator is used as a backup power supply and a power failure occurs or load-shedding is implemented, there will be an interruption while power is re-routed to and from the generator, unless our battery backup system is used in conjunction with a generator.

What do you need at the venue?

We need parking and access to the closest entry to the area where we need to place the DJ table and do the set-up. We need an area of at least 1.8m x 1.8m where we can do the set-up and need additional space to place speakers, lighting stands, projector stands and projection screens. We need one dedicated standard 16A power outlet as close as possible to the DJ table. We have our own tables, but if a sturdy table is available at the venue, it needs to have a surface area of at least 1.8m x 0.6m.

What style of music do you play?

We have a variety of music and will play according to your wishes, but at the same time, music appropriate to the ages of the guests at the function. We play the music that people know and love and try to cater to everyone. You are also more than welcome to provide a list of music you want us to play, or you can leave the music decision to us; we have years of experience in knowing what people will dance to, and we will get them dancing in no time.

Will you play requests?

Yes, as long as we think they are appropriate.

We want our guests to enjoy the dance floor. What can influence the dance?

Try to ensure that all the formalities have been done prior to the first dance. This includes dinner, speeches, and dessert. In doing so, dancing need not be interrupted for each of the aforementioned. The size of the dance floor, the layout of the venue, and the amount of light on the dance floor also have an influence on the willingness of the guests to dance. Try not to have the dance floor in a separate room. Try to switch off or at least dim the lights above and close to the dance floor once the dancing starts.

Will you travel to other areas?

We are based in Paarl, and most of our functions are in and around Paarl, but we will travel to surrounding areas. We can discuss and include the additional travel costs in your quotation.

Once a contract is signed, can we cancel it?

We are entitled to a cancellation fee of 50% of the total amount, if a function or event is cancelled within 14 days prior to the event.

Do I have to provide the DJ with food and drinks?

If the guests at the function are provided with food and drinks, it would be nice to also be provided with food and soft drinks. We do realize that sometimes budgets are very tight, and in such a situation, please inform us beforehand in order to make other arrangements. If you will provide a meal, please arrange for it to be served at the DJ table.
